Doubletalk: Speaker Pelosi's Washington-Speak Can't Mask Tax-and-Spend Agenda
Out-of-Touch Dems Push for "Drastic Tax Increases" for Every American Taxpayer, "More Cash" for Gov't Stimulus Spending

Washington, Oct 22, 2009 - When is a tax hike not a tax hike? When is a ‘stimulus’ not a ‘stimulus’? Just ask House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA.)

Just hours after claiming that billions in new government spending would not add up to a “stealth stimulus,” Speaker Pelosi asserted that ending the tax cuts enacted by Congress in 2001 and 2003 would not be a tax increase. As senior members of her own party have pointed out, ending this tax relief “would mean a drastic tax increase for tens of millions of American families.” Of course, this proves once again how out-of-touch Washington Democrats have become with families struggling to make ends meet and asking, “where are the jobs?” More importantly, it makes plain Washington Democrats’ economic agenda: “drastic tax increases” for every American taxpayer and “more cash” to grow government. The Speaker’s Washington doubletalk only increases the anxiety Americans are feeling during these tough economic times. Republicans have offered better solutions to create jobs and get our economy moving again by cutting taxes and holding the line on spending.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) commented on Speaker Pelosi’s Washington doubletalk and the devastating consequences of Democrats’ job-killing agenda:

“Washington Democrats continue to grow more out-of-touch with families struggling to make ends meet. Speaker Pelosi’s Washington doubletalk can’t mask the fact that she wants every American taxpayer to pay higher taxes and be on the hook for more debt in order to pay for her job-killing agenda. Washington Democrats can’t spend, tax, and borrow their way out of their disastrous economic record. Republicans have offered better solutions to create jobs and get our economy moving again by cutting taxes and holding the line on spending.”
