Boehner: Speaker Pelosi’s “Doc Fix” Bill “An Absolute Train Wreck”

Washington (Nov 18, 2009) House Republican Leader John Boehner issued the following statement strongly opposing Speaker Pelosi’s attempt to pass a 'doc fix' bill that would add nearly $300 billion to the deficit and force seniors to pay higher Medicare premiums:

“Republicans agree on the need to address this critical issue, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s proposal, which adds nearly $300 billion to the deficit and forces America’s seniors to pay higher premiums, is an absolute train wreck. This is nothing more than a thinly-veiled attempt to mask the true cost of Speaker Pelosi’s $1.3 trillion government takeover of health care. It just proves once again that Democrats cannot help themselves when it comes to piling debt on our kids and grandkids and making America’s seniors unfairly bear the burdens of health care reform. This partisan scheme has already been soundly rejected by the Senate, and no evidence exists to suggest it wouldn’t meet the same fate in the future. Our physicians, their patients, and their families deserve better.”
